'He said it's his cat and he will do as he **** well pleases'

Throwaway just in case. I've told my family and some coworkers an its 50/50 so I need some more clarity.

Recently moved into our home and noticed there is a lot of neighborhood cats. Didn't think much of it they would simply walk across our yard a few it seemed had made lounges in our hedge bushes. Well one night it's just me an my toddler

and we are startled to hear yelling at our front door. I look into our camera feed, and it's our neighbor pulling this cat out of our bush. He yelling out "Max you a-h e get your over here!" I was really startled and a

bit nervous after that so when hubby got home I told him what happened and he said yea he saw it on the feed so the next day when he saw the neighbors he asked them if they could not come into our yard because it
  • 07
had scared me to hear them by the door. Dude said whatever older lady was irate and said previous owners were okay with them coming into the yard. My hubby said he understood but that we weren't comfortable with that.

Fast forward to a week later hubby and I are leaving the house with toddler and old man comes out and it seems he's going for a walk. Don't pay no mind and leave. Not a minute after we leave and our camera goes off so we check and old

dude is walking up our driveway and hanging by our kitchen window. So we go back, and he's coming down and we ask him what he was doing and he says our yard is looking like crp and he was looking for his cat.

We said okay but we asked you guys not to come onto our property. Be said it's his cat. We said yes we understand but we would still not like them coming onto the property. He said it's his cat and he will do as he

well pleases because his cat is an a-he and they can't control him. I said if he's that big of a nuisance maybe we should call animal control. He said if we did we would regret it.
  • 12
Grant it I probably shouldn't have brought animal control into it because they're cats but I was so worked up over his blatant disregard for us that my mouth got the better of me.
  • 13
Hubby thinks I'm overreacting family thinks it's a reasonable request coworkers say I'm the AH. So A A for telling them. they can't come get their cats on our property?

that-bro-joshy NTA He threatened you which would be enough for me to call the police and animal control, it maybe his cat but if he doesn't want it waking around he should keep it inside.
  • 16
Just as much as it's his cat it's your property, can you put a fence up to keep him out?
  • 17
Rhovakiin Don't call animal control. Call the police. You verbally warned them once now they're lurking by your window. Not good. The cat didn't do anything wrong. NTA your property your rules
  • 18
Zorgas NTA. But... You need to live with these people near you, perhaps you can work on growing accustomed to them fetching their cat (even though I don't think you should have to it just might be easier).
  • 19
Personally: I'm in Australia. Almost all of us have fenced in front yards, it's normal and not rode or isolating. People know not to walk on other people's property (and if you do, you know it's naughty and are careful).
  • 20
[deleted] NTA. First of all, they can keep the cat indoors. Second of all, they can also get an enclosure for the cat to go outside. Third of all, you told them to stay off of your property.
  • 21
I would file a complaint with the police. If they come onto your property again, then I would report them for trespassing.
  • 22
For anyone thinking your the AH, what happens if he come onto your property to get his cat and some how gets injured? What happens then? Nip this in the bud, now.
  • 23
Peengboe NTA. This is actually one of my pet peeves. Keep your cat on your own property and you won't have to fetch it in your neighbors yards. I don't understand why it's a difficult instruction to follow.
  • 24
Where I live, we have laws. that state, that you have to keep your animals on your own property but most in the city allow their cats to roam free, because "it's against
  • 25
their nature to be confined" and "you can just out a lid on your kids sandbox, if you're tired of my cat using it as a toilet."
  • 26
Beautiful-Concern144 NTA. Comments about the state of your yard were uncalled for and its YOUR property. Trespassing is literally a crime.
